Dr. Walter V. Collier is a social, history, and public policy researcher. His career spans a period of over four decades.He has conducted numerous research studies in diverse areas, including education, employment, healthcare, substance abuse, criminal justice, and church administration, with a focus on African Americans. Dr. Collier has also served as a strategic planner on major STEM projects for the National Science Foundation, multiple academic institutions, and non-profits.
He holds a doctorate in public policy from New York University’s Wagner Graduate School of Public Service and a master’s degree in social psychology from Brooklyn College.
In addition to publishing many research articles on a variety of topics , he has turned his research skills towards investigating the social history of African American struggles and achievements. The two books featured on this web site represent his latest works in this area.
Dr. Collier is a native of Brooklyn, New York. He and his wife, Shirley, of 53 years have lived in Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts for over 40 years. Shirley is an award-winning writer with an advertising and literary background.
